How to Use the WEEKNUM function to determine the week number
To determine the week number of a particular date, you will need to load the Analysis ToolPak add-in. This is accessed by choosing Add-Ins… from the Tools menu in Excel 97, 2000 and 2003. In Excel 2007, select Excel Options from the Office menu then select Add-Ins in the left pane. Select Analysis ToolPak from the listbox then click Go and make sure that the Analysis ToolPak is selected.
By doing this, the WEEKNUM function will become available. This function returns a number that indicates where the week falls numerically within a year.
How to determine the week number
1. In Column A, enter different dates as is necessary.
2. Select cell B1 and type the following formula: =WEEKNUM(A2).
3. Use the fill handle to copy the formula as needed.
