Convert negative values to positive using Excel

For this tutorial, we are presented with a workbook that has a list of values that we would like to convert from negative to positive. To do this, we are going to use a quick and easy method. Read on to find out how.

How to convert negative values to positive values - Excel 97, 2003, 2007 (method may be a little different but concept remains the same)

  1. For this example, we will assume all our negative vaules are in cells A5:A10.
  2. Select cell B1 and type -1.
  3. Copy cell B1.
  4. Select cells A5:A10
  5. Select Paste Special from the Edit Menu.
  6. Select Multiply under Operation.
  7. Click Ok.

Afterwards, you can erase the contents of B1. Thats it!
