Calculate a person’s age in days using Excel
A worksheet lists Names in column A and their birth dates in column B. To calculate the age of these persons in days, first, enter the current date in cell B1 and then perform the following steps:
How to Calculate the age of a person in days:
- Open a worksheet in Excel
- In this example, we are assuming that all the date of births are listed between cells B5 and B15.
- Don’t forget to have the current date in cell B1.
- Select cells C5 - C15.
- Enter the following formula: =$B$1-B5.
- Press CTRL+Ener
- From the Format Menu, select Cells
- Select the Number tab and then select General from the Category list.
- Click Ok.
Please note that in order for this to work, the formula must have an absolute reference to cell B1(or any other cell of your choosing), which is available by going to the formula bar, highlighting the cell reference, and pressing F4 until the appropriate reference appears.
